New Woodland Management Plan

A new Woodland Management Plan has been drafted by Barnet Council in collaboration with the Friends and the Forestry Commission. The draft plan contains many ideas for improving and increasing biodiversity including reintroduction of coppicing, small local recovery zones, pollinator friendly mowing, creation of permanent wetland and ponds at selected locations, hedge laying and the creation of Forest gardens suitable for foraging. The plan should allow grants and other funding to be levered into the Wood to assist this work. We aim to have more details about ideas and proposals at our Stall at the East Finchley festival on Sunday 18th June.

This is a ‘live’ plan meaning it will be continuously reviewed and updated. If you have any thoughts about other things that could be done do let us know so that we can work with e Council to bring the plan ideas to fruition.

There will be an increasing opportunity for volunteers to get involved in our work so do let us know if you might be interested as we will be setting up a new conservation task group in the coming months. Send us an email if you are interested [email protected]
